It's been a month since my last update!! So, sorry for the incredibly LONG (and possibly boring) update!
During this time:
*Both sets of inlaws were in town to celebrate Ian's birthday + Ian's very special Aunt Kelly! Adam and I threw Ian a dog themed party and had about 25ish people over to celebrate! It was a LOT of fun, especially the planning process. Ian had puppy invitations, dog themed food, etc. I went a little overboard. I promised myself (and the checking account) that I would tone it down in future years... but I find myself plotting future parties already. But it was a lot of fun. Ian has no interest in smashing a cake. Only eating it.
*Lots of school work, for both Adam and I. Luckily we both got A's in our classes.
*House refinance: considering we purchased the Money Pit in 2007 and rates have fallen by a lot since then, and there are zero closing costs, it made complete sense :) Our house was appraised, of course for a price less than we paid, and now we are heading to closing. We stand to save $175/month on the payment!!!
*Roof leak discovered and was repaired on above mentioned money pit.
*Adam took a temporary leave of absence from his grad program for next semester as the only class he can take is at the same time the only class I can take is offered. Considering we know he will be in China for at least two weeks of the semester AND I prefer to return to employment sooner rather than later, my school needs took priority. I want my paycheck and independence back. I am finding it disheartening that I am on the new mortgage simply as a 'formality'!!!!
*Starting in January, Ian will be headed to a local church once a week for a "Mother's Day Out" program. I am worried that he is too clingy to me. He needs a regular schedule that includes time spent with another adult in charge where he is on his own. This also allows me to rely less on friends when I need to attend one of my 50,000 appointments.
*I HIGHLY recommend the book Unbroken, especially if you enjoy history. No school means I thumb twiddle and read at night.
*Check out Pinterest!! Lots of good recipes (cookie dough truffles!) and cheap craft ideas. I'm addicted!
*I spent last Friday afternoon stuffed into an MRI machine for 90 minutes checking on my migraine issue. Been going on for awhile now. It affects the vision in my right eye to the point that I can't see out of it. At all. I finally mentioned it to my opthamologist and was sent for an MRI of my brain. Thank god I am not claustrophobic. My head was locked into a plastic box the entire time. I was told I couldn't even move my EYES. No one ever called to discuss the results with me so I am taking that lack of news to imply I am of course, just fine. My doctor assumes I have "retinal migraines", which are INCREDIBLY rare (of course, my body would never develop normal migraines, I must defy statistics at all times). I am now taking an aspirin a day and he says this should fix it. So far, so good.
*Ian got his first haircut. He no longer has any curls.
*Ian got his first molar. Super early. So far he seems to take after me in the mouth department with his history of early tooth cutting. I lost all of my baby teeth by the time I was 8 and my wisdom teeth starting coming in at 12. We will see what happens...
Things in our near future:
-Spending Christmas night (with Ian!) at the Great Wolf Lodge in Cincinnati. So don't be offended if we're MIA. We will be running through a pool phone-less.
-I am completing my stupid nurse's aide training in a 10 day course immediately following Christmas. Not looking forward to it, AT ALL. For some insane reason my clinicals will be done at a veteran's facility ONE HOUR south of Lexington. Obtaining your certification is a requirement in KY before starting nursing school so I will suffer it out. All ten days straight. Even on weekends. Because I have this intense itch to go work somewhere, practically anywhere, I might end up taking a job working one shift/week in the coming months. Good idea for networking. Lots of grunt work. But I'm up for it.
-The week after I finish my training I head back to a new semester. I am taking the second half of Anatomy & Physiology at night.
FLIPPER SLIPPERS!!
