Not too much to report around here. Recently Ian has decided to start speaking a bit. He pointed to Bowser and said "Kitty" (really, "gitty") twice. He yells "MAMA" when he wants my attention. And just a few days ago he has taken to saying "cookie" while motioning towards the top of the fridge where I keep the animal crackers. According to my baby book, that was also my third word. We know what's important in life!!
I finished up my two week CNA course. What a drag that was. And depressing. Even the "best" nursing home in the state where we had to do clinicals was awful by my standards. I can never work in a nursing home, EVER. I could not stand seeing some of the staff members act like they didn't care when giving baths, etc. The residents are people. Not cattle.
I have to go take a state exam in a few weeks to become a registered nurse's aide. Hopefully I pass considering it's 75 bucks. Then I need to get CPR certified and I can get a job in a local hospital. It will help me get into nursing school. And I have my eye on a 16 month BSN program for people that already have degrees. But that wouldn't start for over a year. So I have plenty of time to enjoy doing "not much" around here.
I just started my 2nd semester of anatomy. It shouldn't be too bad. At least I enjoy my teacher this semester. We have quizzes in lab on material BEFORE it is officially presented. Seems a bit.... stupid. But I suppose we can teach ourselves via the diagrams.
I am currently reading the Steve Jobs bio. LOVE IT. And also "Not My Daughter" based off the teenage pregnancy pact in MA a few years ago. Thank god I didn't end up having a girl. Too much work/stress. Very good read.
Turns out HI is in my blood. I am returning to Maui in November. FOR FREE. I was accepted into a program for young adult cancer survivors for a week of surfing lessons!! We will be staying in cabins on the beach. We don't even have to cook our own meals. I am literally paying for NOTHING. I am INCREDIBLY excited about this (duh!).
That's about it.
