Kauai Vacation

We have been back for almost a week now but I have been kept busy with school and friends. I had three quizzes and an exam to take care of; not to mention "important" get togethers so I (I mean Ian?!) could see my/his friends and catch up.

To sum up our week away - it was amazing. We stayed on the north side of the island in Princeville at the Westin. I (Meghan) have never stayed in such a nice hotel in my life so I was completely BLOWN AWAY by the amenities! I grew up traveling via Motel 6 (not trying to cut you down my cheapo Dad; we have some great stories, like that place in Escondito with the hookers when I was 9). The Westin had FIVE pools. One of them was an infinity edge pool overlooking the ocean. At night the grounds were lit up by torches. It had a waterslide (for children really, but of course I went down it). Our room had a whirlpool and even a small kitchen with GRANITE counters. Sheesh.

It wasn't quite as relaxing as I had anticipated, but I wouldn't have it any other way! We hiked a lot. Went tubing through some old plantation irrigation shoots. Snorkeled. Explored several secluded beaches. Took a boat ride up to the Napali coast. Visited Waimea Canyon. Had dinner at the shi-shi St. Regis (thanks mom!). Every day was jam packed with activity. I only managed a few naps at some beaches (or on my air mattress in the ocean).

Our next Hawaiian adventure will be our 10th anniversary. An item on my 'bucket-list' that needs to be checked off is seeing Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island.
